Hello Guys and Girls,
I'm brand new to this forum and to making any kind of manmade snow. I did a little searching on the web and found this site. Living in Oklahoma, we get plenty of the cold air but never enough of the white stuff. So this will be a goal of mine for this coming winter. I've been in other forums and place a lot of importance on other members and their expierence and advise. I'll be doing my homework of reading different topics (to keep repaet questions to a minimum hopefully) and then I'll be more active as time goes on. Just to add, I work for the Oklahoma Air National Guard full time and have a business on the side. It's an indoor amusement ride. During the spring/summer, it's a ride thru haunted house (Dungeon Haunted Ride). In October we add the actors. Then in December, I change it over to a Christmas ride (Adventures in SantaLand). You can visit WWW.BRICKTOWNAMUSEMENT.COM to see more info. I also built an animated light show (that dances to music) outside to attract folks and provide free entertainment. NOW I want to add snow around the area to give it that wonderland look during the holidays. I like the title Santa's Helper as I've used this in the past but I also choose to sign my name "Tom" after each post. Why? I don't really know. Probably because it keeps confusion down as to which "Tom" I am or was (LOL). Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and hope to visit with each and everyone of you soon. It will take me a little time to get spooled up but I'll get there. Please excuse, any repeat questions I might post, in advance. Until then, Tom Tom |

Thanks SMD,
I've already started on my homework and have learned quite a few things, but have only scratched the surface I'm sure. It's real easy to think about making snow when it's 100 degrees F outside. I almost feel cooler just thinking about it Tom Tom |

What kind of temps do you get down there?

Well today it reached 100, tomorrow maybe 70 (LOL). Seriously, during winter, we get single didgets, teens, 20s and 30s or higher. It varies quite a bit.

Yep, that's how I have to do it. Baby steps. If not, I'll nod off. That's how I get when I read for long periods at a time. Of course, being in the military wouldn't have anything to do with it.

I just wanted to add to this. I'm on my third/forth week of reading posts, looking at pics (OMG there are some great ones too) and asking a couple questions. This forum is so freaking huge with info that often, I've gone to bed very tired in the brain department. I've read so many posts of this and that on what type or condition or what ever. It can get confusing really quick. Then I set back and think about it and it gets a little better as to what I need to accomplish my snow making goal for this season. BUT, I sure appreciate the guys who have answered my questions (knowing my questions are probably not the first time asked). I've used the "SEARCH" or "FIND" button MANY times on questions I had and found answers just about everywhere I turned. I plan to keep this style of "search and destroy" up for some time to come, but I just wanted to say: Thanks for a great forum and all the great info provided with-in I think it will snow on Christmas eve in OKC this year Now.... Back to my homework. Thanks guys!!! Tom Tom |

I think I can speak for a lot of the people here - it's just a real kick for us when someone new is intrigued enough to join the forum, learn by researching, decide on what type of gun to build, and builds and tests it. Tom, this coming fall / winter we'll be expecting at least a half dozen "How come I can't get this stupid thing to make snow" posts from you. Be patient, follow everyone's (well, maybe not EVERYONE!) advice, and we'll all raise a toast when we see that very first "IT'S WORKING, IT'S WORKING!!!" post from you! Welcome aboard!

Thanks guys,
(I'm getting more and more into your trials and success But today I hit a road block (at work anyway) The error I get is that the firewall detects this forum as a forum/webboard. I have a couple of other chatsites/forums I can still go to (totally different subject) and have no problems with it. Is there a way to change the tag or what ever firewalls detect so us military/government folks can still have a little fun in our lives? I hate to only be able to search and destroy at my home computer only. Like ask a question or read a topic tonight, and can't read more of it or the response until tomorrow night when I get home. Man this really blows too. Worse than the Oklahoma wind Moderators? Any ideas? Tom Tom |

Yeah Payton, I know what you're saying. But I get a "Forbidden" message which tells me it's a firewall issue, and with only selected forums/sites. Ebay is another site they block. Makes a mess when it comes time to place a bid. But thanks for your input. I'll keep that in mind for future use. Tom Tom |

Slush puppy wannabe |
It's so funny at my school because people figured out you can use sites like freetranslation.com's web site translator set to translate from English to English! Now you can't go to online language translators at school because it's blocked under the category "Proxy Avoidance." So you could try doing it that way. Go to www.freetranslation.com and find the Web site translator tab, then paste the URL you want into the little bar. Good luck!!
Puppies like slush, but snowmakers don't! |

Hey Colin, Thanks a bunch. I'll give that a try. I hate not being able to get to this forum from work (during my breaks and lunch of courswe hehe). I still have reading to do and pics to see and my evenings are pretty busy along with weekends. I'll try anything to get me back to my homework. Thanks again for the suggestion. Tom |
