Greetings All!

I'm jealous of all of you that are where it is cold enough to make snow. I am itching to try too, but alas I'm in Houston. I want to construct a gun for my extremely poor conditions, when and if it occurs. I have 26CFM air and a 4gpm electric pump. I am thinking of external mix nuc. I see a lot of references to using a drilled cap for an air orifice. Would it be better to use t-jets for both air and water and match the angles?

What ratio should I use between bulk and nuc water?

And what should the proportions of nuc air to water be?

With 26CFM of air should I nuc all of the 4gpm?

I have about 14 110001 nozzles on hand. Would they be too small for bulk nozzles?

Thanks,

Craig

Firstly, great job looking around the site and gathering the info you could before asking a bunch of questions. You found what you could and are just asking for some help specific to your application GREAT JOB Clap

Ok well with 26CFM and the conditions you will most likely see in Houston you would most likely benefit from a basic Tee gun. It will create the best snow in marginal conditions (about23°wet bulb and up). But I guess with 26CFM of nuc you should be able to nuc 4gpm from a combo gun even in very marginal temps. So if you are looking for a cheap route you could build the Tee gun for under $50 and make about 2.5gpm which isn't to bad at all.

You say you have a 4gpm electric pump? Is it an electric pressure washer? Because if you just build a Tee gun you shouldn't really need a pump as long as your water supply can build 65-80ish psi at the 2.5gpm. If you want to build a combo gun those 11001s might be to small and to wide of an angle to nuc. The flow isn't so much a problem as long as your water is clean so it doesn't clog the small orifice but the spray angle is way to wide.

There really isn't a set gpm vs gpm of nuc to bulk but the general rule is about 10cmf or air to 1gpm of water for a teegun and from 4cmf to 1.5cfm per gpm on a combo gun. You most certainly have enough air to nuc your 4gpm if you make a combo.

So to sum things up i would say based on the temps you will probably see and the amount of air you have I would suggest you build a simple tee gun and see how that works for you. Then if you feel you need to step it up a bit you can try and build a combo.

Hope this helps
If anything is unclear just ask.
