so i used this site last year to start up a snow making attempt. made an attempt but faild so this year did a little more tweeking and we'll see where that gets me.
I am running an eaton 9cfm @ 90psi + alittle homemade compressor for supplement, pressure pump is a giant p317 (gpm ?), and homemade nuc.

http://www.facebook.com/album....=230247&id=500856365

As you can tell im running right around 600psi at gun and about 700 pump. top to bottom are 4003,4002,4002, nuc. The nuc is based off one i saw on here but i used copper pipe and they used plastic (pretty sure anyway). everything looked good just need some imput on the nuc. (too dry to wet, not enough, too much)
Just looking to be critiqued. ANY imput will be appreciated. Awsome form by the way.

Well I would say welcome to snowguns but.... You have been here for a long time (Longer than me Big Grin) So instead thanks for posting and joining us Smile

And I like your way of mounting your Pump and compressor. And your gun looks good but don't quote me on that (I haven't made snow yet)

And it seems like you aren't one of the people that will get on others nerves because you read a lot and tried it then came and posted.

So... Welcome Thumbs up

Welcome Earl! I like you're style of silently absorbing information Cheers!

As for your nuc. It's a little hard to tell from those pictures but it seems to me that maybe it's a bit on the rich side. I'm not one of the experts on high pressure guns but that's just my nickels worth, I'm sure someone else will say otherwise. But from the look of the nuc and plume I would say you have a pretty nice lower temp set up, say below 22-23WB you could start seeing decent snow quality. Anybody else agree/disagree with that?

Earl, welcome

Truman is right, nuc looks too rich. I had the same issue with my first SM4. I leaned it out and was making great snow. Also, your nuc looks to be narrower than the bulk spray. Might want to get a wider flat fan nozzle

BTW...you nuc design looks familiar Razz

I can't really tell from your pictures, but are those holes in the tube the only thing that meters the nuc water? Or is that just the delivery system? The nuc does look a little too rich.

I would recommend putting a flat fan nozzle on the nucleator if possible. It will help to more evenly distribute the nuc particles throughout the width of the plume.

Lookin awesome though! Can't wait to see it work! Thumbs up

thank guys for the welcome and input.. I am metering the water through a needle valve that is not pictured so adjusting nuc. will be done. As far as the broader throw of the nuc. it would be a pain to change but could be done. ill maybe see if i can short cut it and test some more tonight.
VB- yeah it does look familiarly Smile i cant find the pics i was originally looking at though, two guys made them very similar to each other.

if i dont get the broader nuc to work out i am thinking of just switching my bulks to 2502-3 for a narrow throw. that should just cause a longer, narrower throw, right? The nuc. has a lot of air behind it (imo) so it seems to throw pretty good as to not fall short if i change nozzles.

I got some snow to form last night with a temp of 26 and a h-level of about 68%.. I thought i was doing pretty good. I got the nozzle to flatten out so it is a broader spread. no issues yet just waiting for colder temps.
