The only thing my daughter told me she wanted this year was to have a white christmas. So here I am looking to build a snow machine. I have looked on different sites but everyone wants you to buy kits or leave limited info if any on plans they have for free. Please help

I see you're in Texas. Well first of all, as you would probably guess, you need cold temperatures to make snow. Depending on where you are, it may just be 1 or 2 nights a year cold enough to do it... If all you're looking for is to be able to coat the grass with a dusting of snow, a teegun should be plenty sufficient, and only needs an air compressor and a garden hose to operate, plus they tend to work in marginal temps (28°-34°F) much better than the other types. If you look in the beginner snowmaking forums, there is a TON of information on teeguns, their construction, and operation.

If you have, or are willing to buy a pressure washer, you can build a combo gun, but these require colder temps to work well. There is a wealth of info in the forums here, including plans, peoples designs, and ideas.

I do have a compressor and a pressure washer that has 1800psi on it with 1.5 gpm.

WEll I'd still recommend building a TEE gun first so you can learn how to make snow... and if you never see below around 30° it's probably all you'll ever get running... however since you've already got a pressure washer, you could pretty easily build a basic combo gun for under $100. The advantage there, is that you'll run 1.5 gpm instead of .25 gpm (and thats if you're lucky) on a teegun. the downside is that it has to be colder for it to work.

yep - all snowmaking begins with something you can't buy - cold! What kind of nightime lows do you get where you live?
