Finally, it dropped below freezing in Augusta, GA for about 2 hours; long enough to run the 't' and put 1/2" on parts of the yard. It should drop a little lower tonight (25), or should I say in the morning, and I'll try to run the combo. The combo has 2 4002's for bulk and a 4003 nuc. the compressor will hold 95 psi dry. The power washer is 1700 psi @ 1.3 gpm. Pressure at the gun should be 400-500 psi with the 2 bulk nozzles. the last snow we had in Augusta was 2002 (which can be seen at www.thewhitesfamily.com ) and I got tired of waiting for it to occur naturally, which is the main reason I make snow now when I can.

I will post pictures soon and am open to comments and suggestions.

Thanks to snowmakerdrew, wizz, bushkill, dyer, noemailaddress (Daniel), and the rest of you whose names I can't remember. You made me feel less crazy, not that I am, mind you.

Pics to come.

Advice is free.

I'm not an expert (by no means), but not a novice, either.

And I'm still 19, with 35 yrs experience.

Cool be cool, make snow

Well it got down to 31 this morning - NOT cold enough to freeze anything. Here are some pics, unfortunately there are none of snow yet. When there are some, I'll post them in woohoo.

first is a pic of my combo and low pressure 't'. The combo is constructed of high pressure stainless steel and hi pressure brass. The 't' is made of galvanized and regular brass. Hard to tell the difference, huh?

the second pic is of the combo running at 31 degrees (was coldest after the sun came up). PW is 2hp 1.3gpm 1700psi (Harbor Freight) and with 2 4002's it has a pressure of 475 indicated; about what the charts predict. Compressor is also Harbor Freight 8 gal 2hp 6.0scfm@40/5.0scfm@90. It is indicating 95 psi running into a 4003 nuc. I have a needle valve feeding the nuc and it is barely cracked open. Trouble is, I can never get the nuc on the combo to look as good as the nuc on the 't'. Too much air pressure, maybe?

If there are any other snowmakers in this area, I would like to meet you (or potential snowmakers).

try leveling out your gun and see if that helps the nuc
